Finger Lakes Landlocked Salmon

« Reply #3 on: October 13, 2006, 11:04:14 AM »

4lbs. landlocked salmon. I caught this fish last fall in a tributary of cayuga lake while drifting an orange chenille egg imitation through a deep pool. The fish spent more time in the air than the water. I love catching landlocks.

I molded and cast in bondo/resin. My own special technique.

Here's a carp I finished today and delivered to a new sporting goods store for display.  It's about two feet long, cast from a mold I made.  It's foam filled and a threaded rod goes through the bondo/resin rock I molded and cast and the rod sticks up into the fish's interior.  Many fishermen catch these but few are mounted so I thought/hope it will catch the attention of fishermen visiting this new store in town.

Any constructive comments are welcome.

Enjoy,
jerry

Rich, that sure looks like a resident fish to me.  I can just picture that brown laying under an undercut bank waiting to pounce on whatever comes by.  Truely a very very beautiful fish that looks like it just was caught and  posing for a picture.  I love your work!

Noah.....I like that carp! It is truly a worthy gamefish and I wish more replicas were available that have the action and quality yours shows. I love going after these bruisers during the dog days of summer, and when taken from clean waters, I have one or two smoked and they are great! I would like to see this fish elevated to its rightful status in this country as it is in Europe. Replicas like yours will surely help!

I love this new weekly tradition! Thanks Greg!

A heavily spotted 30” Rainbow from the Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia. I guess they threw in Brown bear hunt with his fishing trip! LOL! The Customer provided 3 photos and a pedestal was done based on the photos.
