I found a deer skull out in the hills a while back and it is in really good condition but it still has some dried meat on it in side the brain cavity and in spots that are hard to get at would it be a good idea to start it mascerating it or what other alternatives do I have?

I would macerate it, too. If the meat is really dried on there, it may take awhile to loosen, but it'll be worth it. My brother's girlfriend found me a cow (we think???) skull and it had quite a bit of jerky on it. I soaked it for 3 weeks because I wasn't too worried about it and kept forgetting to take it out (though, i did partial water changes whenever i remembered it and didn't feel like messing with it too much), and then scraped the jerky off with a sharp knife. It's all dry now, and I haven't even felt the need to whiten it. The sun did a fine job on it, however long it was out there on the desert. Smiley

Personally, I'd start the soaking process in very hot water with either sal soda or ammonia added. Hopefully that will soften the remaining organic material making the maceration process a bit quicker...
