Tanning method ?

Just received a fox that had been tanned with 50/50 mix of turpentine and etho alcohol.  Just wondering what the experts thoughts are on this type of tan.  And would it be ok to wash it prior to mounting to dampen the smell of turpentine?

  There are dozens of tanning products sold. None of them include turpentine or alcohol. That should answer your Question.

It was a new one to me.  But I've only been at it for a couple years.  The hide looks and feels tanned.  He says he has been using it for over 30 years with no ill effects.  Has mounts in museums, sportsmans warehouse and cabelas.

i would say that this preserves the skin - but i cant imagine it being tanned - i will try this method on a coyote cape and report back
