albino corn snake

I have a client that wants an albino corn snake done. Its about 5 ft. long. I dont do many snakes, so my question is, should I conventionally mount, or freezedry?..either way, how hard will it be to repaint the colors on an albino?...thx, Rich

I would freeze dry or whole sale it out to some one more experience. Good Luck.

I would freeze dry and repaint. Very easy to do, does owner have any pictures. Good Luck.

albino corns come in a variety of colors not just the classic white color. They are ghost patterned in light orange, yellow, red, ect ect. All albinos due to the lack of pigmentation, will fade and actually turn a rusty brown color when drying. The pigmentation or lack there of is not strong enough to retain existing colors or hues. DO NOT, think of freeze drying it. Collubrids of which this snake is a family member are the worst snakes to freeze dry. They look awfull, just look on e-bay. Carve your own body, conventionally mount it, and it will be fine. The head on most, cannot be skinned out totally so the upper skull cavity is left intact and the rest removed. You can use scullp-all to rebuild. The snake will also have to be DESCALED like all collubrids and constrictors( yes it is a constrictor), as the scale coverings will shrivel and turn milky white. You also cannot paint the skin unless the scales are removed or your paint job will all shed off in a month or two after the customer gets it back
