«

Hey Guys! What is the best homemade method to tan frog skins? Would i be able to use Denatured alcohol or even a borax solution?
Any ideas would help.
Thanks,
Sam

If you want to preserve the frog then why not just buy a cast replica and paint it? You're going to get serious shrinkage otherwise.

I dont really mind if the skin shrinks. I just would like to know how exactly tanning a frog skin could be achieved without a plaster replica.

And most taxidermists have not, hence the lack of replies....BUT....why not skin it, flesh it, then use a snake tan?

Would borax or denatured alcohal even work on an amphibian skin or is that just for the tanning of fish skins?

I know I'll catch it for this but I use formaldehyde, same thing I do my turtles in. About 3oz formaldehyde to 5gal water. Turns the skin to a leather like state, they retain 95% of their color. Fill them with a real fine hardwood sawdust or a fish fill with no filler such as Styrofoam balls. I love doing reptiles and this is what I've found that works the best. Love this spell checker.
