I built my fleshing beam out of a 2x6 but i had a wooden table to mount it to. I cut a piece about 26" to 30" long for the part that the skin slides down as the table that it sets on is about waist high. You will want to take this into consideration when building this so that it doesn't wind up to tall to work on when finished. When i made the cut for the beam board i cut it at a 45 degree cut straight across the board. So when i attached the beam part to the base piece it came up at a 45 degree angle. I then built a gusset piece from the same board and attached it about 6 or 7 inches from where the beam and base pieces met and screwed the whole thing together with
3 1/2" deck screws it took 6 screws. two to put the base to the beam and 4 for the gusset brace , the base piece was about 14" long and the gusset was about 7"long . the beam can be made out of 2x4 for a narrower animal I do primarily deer on mine, i also rounded the top of the beam piece so the skin would slide on easer and i rounded off the square sides of the face of the beam toward the top end to make it easer to use when fleshing this keeps you from cutting Thur the hide when fleshing the skin.Good luck Tod. If you haven't got time to do it right the first time, how are you ever going to find time to do it over again?

Take a piece of 10 inch pvc and cut it in half and round the end, and you are good to go

How did you mount the pvc to ...  whatever....?  Was it sturdy enough to have a heavy hide on?

You can either lean the PVC up against your bench or mount it to a base .
