Well, I did it..... dropped a skull in a bucket, covered it and let it sit for a month..... Drummed up the nerve to finally open 'er up and found it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd feared...... Got the skull cleaned up in three bathes of Dawn..... My problem is it still has a lingering scent of decay ---- Ewww..... Had to move it outside to air the place out.  It appears to be completely clean, so how do I remove the odor?  It's only been drying a couple of days.........

Hey jnc one thing I didn't read was were you soaked it in hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide will help whitening the skull and react with chemicals that make your skull stink. You want to rid the skull of stink not cover the smell.

No, I haven't placed it in peroxide.... wasn't sure I was supposed to do that as well.... Just use regular 3% that you buy over the counter?

Yes, 3% Peroxide is fine. Usually soak for a day or two. Out of curiosity what kind of skull is it? Did any of the teeth fall out?
