I just did one last week.... first time I used dp, and I find that it has an unpleasant odor..... not spoiled, but musky.  I was wondering if it was the groundhog or the dp?

I'm going to catch h*** for this but here goes. I'm not saying tanning is no good. it is. but DP is only good if done right.  it has to work its way into the skin.  it won't work a dirty skin.  if used right it is great.  15whitetailjosh.  if the hair fell out, you may have left it in the heat too long before processing it, or had it out too long working on it,or you didn't get the DP into the hide good enough. i have never had a good hide loose its hair with DP. jnc if it stinks, it you either didn't get all the meat out, or it still has grease in it.  ground hogs are greasy.

well the hair did fall out on that one and I think I did it right, and I had tanned some bofore and it worked good, and I tanned alot after and I never had it fall out with tanning them, also I hate the smell and the feel of the dry preserve.
