what is the best way to recreate catfish whiskers for a reproduction?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've seen methods published but I want to know what everyone here thinks is the best.

Walk out in the back of thewoods, grab a Thin,Small, Scrub Bush, Cut it off, (You must find one that has a slight taper to it...Hot melt glue it on...Clear coat it 2-3 times...done !
P.S. This works ! and don't cost you anything ! And, most of all LOOKS REAL !
Be Creative !

Take the tail feathers off a turkey fan.  Strip the vanes leaving only the shaft.  Lightly sand and pulll them between the thumb and the metal of a screw driver to create a curl.  Coat them with a fin backing cream, seal and install them.

I have used wire, just taper one end on a bench grinder, then paint.
