Mark V. hit it on the head completly on CC.
We spent $2,000 on our machine and use it every day. Worth every cent, as we have never had a problem. It also takes debit cards.
Don't go on the cheap, spend what it takes up front- it's worth it!

If you use the swipe machines, can you put a credit card # in by hand? If say some one calls and pays a deposit over the phone.Just wandering how this works. Thanks. Randall

Shop around, I am in the process of getting set up now. It can be done all through your computer, no equipment to bother with. $5.00 amonth .21 cent transaction fee, 1.8% commission. 90% of our business is done over phone, you probably need a machine in shop if you are face to face business

You can type in a card number on the machines.  It asks youy for some basic info such as zip code, the 3 digit security code, and whether or not the card is present.

Deerman,

It really is worth the little bit of expense.  When I got it up and going, I raised my prices to cover the service fees.  If the customer pays with cash or check, I make the service fee and not the bank!

James Parrish is right on. I raised my prices $25.00 across the board when I started taking credit cards. Also customers don't mind to upgrade on their mount this way. IE: habitat, or pedestal. Taking cards has made a big difference for me.  Tim    Ü

I have been asked 3 times this year. I will be checking into it. Will be the wave of the future. A lot of fast food and retail stores will only take Debit or Credit cards now,no Checks. This may be something the NTA should look into, offering a discount Merchant service. Randall

Deerman...why wait 'till you lose a couple more customers before starting to accept credit cards. The two that you lose will pay for ten years of credit card costs.
