Making forms/molds for game

I'd like a little input.  Can anyone discuss some of the easiest ways to make a forum from a skinned animal?

I have a little experience in making a few molds(heat vulcanized siliconeand a few out of plaster of parris or water putty-fishing lure molds)   I'd like to make a rabbit form at least of just the head but possibly whole body.  I was also thinking of trying a full fox or cat for also.  Can these just be made from plaster, vasoline up a frozen animal/part and then mold as normal? Is ther an easier way of using  foam as a mold?  Thanks rob

You can do it with plaster, if it is skinned you wont need a release agent.

Being yo have some experience on molding then you won't have to much problems. You have to make sure you don't do this in a half cast method. You may need to make three or four part mold to make this work. It will depend on how you position the animal. You will then have to access what or how your going to take it apart and be able to place it back together for a mold.
Clamping is done with either rubber bands or strap clamps.

Robbor. The easiest way I know to cast that rabbit head is to use hair remover to get the hair off and only work with the skin.Then freeze the head and check the detail as it freezes by taking it out of the freezer from time to time.Once you have it frozen the way you like paint on a solution of dissolved Vaseline and cast the head in a resin-thinned-down layer of Bondo.Mix up another batch of Bondo and add some fiberglass chop to the mix, then cover the original Bondo and let it set up. Once the bondo has gone through the "heat" stage cut the mould through the center on your band saw and wash the mould. Now you have a 2 part mould.Tape the mould together with electrical tape and pour a foam mix to get a nice repro head. Good luck...JL
