Nice - this is the kind of mounting method I am giving a try on Grey Squirrels.

About using the skull:
Could you just dissolve all the flesh parts by suspending as much of it as you could? or even pop it out then dissolve all soft tissue and then just roll it back into the mask sleeve again?

I guess stuffing it full of chemicals and resin kinda makes sure there's nothing sinister gonna happen in there though Tongue

Will make sure to post some pictures - I will borrow a digital camera, or scan my photos, or use my mobile 'phone's camera.

I probable missed it earlier when reading this. But you used the letters DP after you skinned the ermine what does that stand for?I'll be working on squirrels layer this month and it's my first time to skin and mount them. Thanks for the great tutorial.

DP stands for Dry Preservative, it's an alternative to tanning. It is available for purchase at taxidermy supply companies, and some folks use borax as a DP (borax is found in the laundry soap isle at walmart). Type them into the search bar & you'll find loads more info Smiley

How does DP stand up to the test of time? Does it last just as long as tanning the skin?
