European Hog Nose (COLOR)

I know in the past there has been a bit of a debate of what color a hogs nose is and sin't surely every hog is different in their own way. This is a picture of a Wild Boar I killed and thought I would take some pics of its nose and the inside of its mouth. I learned a great deal also and was amazed at how GREYish the nose was and how not that pink or fleshy the mouth was.

Jesse....you are looking at mouth color on a dead hog without blood flow. All my reference photos show healthy pink mouths. They are also on 35mm so I cant show you here. Rick Carter is fond of saying to open your mouth & look in the mirror to see the right color. He is right. The grey nose color is generally correct, but of coarse there are exception to that too, mainly in feral hogs. Got your DVD today, you got some sweet shots. take care.

No problem, I plan on going to get some more photos this weekend. Last time I went the weather was crappy and was hard to get good pictures. I think I took over 400 and used 92 i believe. thank goodness for a digital. as for the boar, the lips were pinkish, but the rof of the mouth was almost white or a ovory color. I saw it walking aorund and his nose was as grey as grey could be. I will try and get some more open mouth pics of the russian pigs this weekend. You in need of a fallow CD, I can get them to hold still. Not sure if anyone would be interested.
