Amy, you said she's been yanking you around for months. If she ever contacts you tell her the fox is gone and you are not refunding her deposit. Her negligence and lack of professionalism cost you the sale of the fox to someone else who was willing to make an honest deal. You mentioned that it was an eBay deal .. then she was obligated to pay 100% up front. You should have also filed a non paying bidder complaint but it's too late to do that now. She didn't care enough to be straight with you. The fox isn't hers any longer and you are right to keep the deposit for your efforts .. and storage. I have husky puppies for sale from time to time. When they are 4 weeks old I do take deposits to hold pups for someone till they are eight weeks old. At eight weeks everyone is notified to come pick up their puppy. Only once did someone change their mind. Only after another month did they tell me that they no longer wanted the dog. I kept the deposit as they spoiled the puppies chance to go home at least six times. After two phone calls the pup did go home to someone who had wanted him before. Same deal with you. They don't know it, but you could have had another buyer for the fox and lost it because of her. Keep the deposit and don't lose any sleep over it.

This was not a local fox -- I know better than that! Geez guys Tongue It was aquired from a fellow taxidermist in New York, who often supplies me with foxes since they are not legal to hunt or trap in most areas of NC. All documentation and contact information is there along with the fox.

The way the laws are in NC? I don't think you can sell a skin or mount to the general public? Unless you are recouping loss from a mount that was not picked up. We can sell to other taxidermist as long as it is going to be used for taxidermy.
