New to mounting deer-help me pick a pose please

Hi-1st post here so if I'm in the wrong area, sorry! Anyway- I harvested a nice wide 10pt with a gigantic body and swollen neck. It is my first buck with a bow. I am considering mounting it but cannot seem to find a good place to compare different poses. Any links or pictures would be much appreciated. From what I have seen so far, my fav. is a semi sneak LT. I got ahold of a van dykes catalog and looked at their forms but cant see much since its just foam. Any books out there I should get? I went to barnes and noble in my area and they had none. I am not doing the mount myself, just looking for ideas right now...it will be done professionally. Other things I dont even know about are: ear position, eyes, etc...like I said...Im a newbie to all this.  Please be nice. Thanks! Any info is greatly appreciated

My preferences are semi sneak, ears back to make highlight the rack or one semi frowaard and one back for eye appeal. Check out McKenzie's Joe Meder forms. You will have a thousand different answers here. I personally don't like Van Dykes deer forms, but some here do. Hope it helps

First pick a taxidermist, & remember you usually get what you pay for. He will be able to show you all the options out there, & advise on a pose that accentuautes the best qualities of your deer. I spent an hour with a guy this afternoon doing just that.

I actually prefer the wall pedestal mounts....They are new, exciting, and different, and would compliment any room!!  I do prefer McKenzie and Joe Coombs Classics as far as deer forms...Good Luck!!

I tell my clients to first off, think about where they want to hang it. If they have low ceilings like in a trailer then a semi sneak would be a better choice. If ceiling height isn't a problem then you can move to other poses. Where in your house are you going to put it. You wouldn't want a left turn deer staring at the wall if you could have him looking right at a doorway etc. The main concern is where in the house are you gonna put it?
Stay away from heat sources, such as fireplaces, wood stoves etc. Keep it away from windows as they will fade.
Big rack  ears forward or one forward one back. Little rack? Both ears back.
The main thing is what do YOU like?

Thanks for all the responses.....I am leaning towards a semi sneak.....the spread on this deer is 19" so Im thinking I will put both ears forward. What is a "wall pedestal mount"? A Picture would be great...I looked online and the only pics I can find makes it look awful hard to mount to the wall. Am I missing something here? Is there something that helps support the mount on the wall itself?The back of the actual mount seemed to NOT be flat...I would definetly like something original....different than most. To whoever said he doesnt fix tines, Im not either....I didnt shoot him that way. I heard from another person (not on here) that there is some new mount where more of the front shoulders are included....what is this called? Pics?? Sorry to have so many questions. I just dont want to wish I did something different down the road. Thanks again!

As far as the pedestal mount forms go, they are beautiful. The way they hang on the wall, is two choices just like a regular mount, they make a panel for it or you can hang it with no panel just put your hanger on the back of the deer mount. I also recommend the aggressive forms McKenzie all the way for the forms. My opinion the best looking forms out there!!!!

I think the semi sneak is a very attractive mount and is very recognized by many customers. Also they are pretty easy to mount up and would be great for a beginner mount. My only question for you is, "are you sure you want this trophy of a lifetime to be an experiment?" You might be better off getting this one done by a competent professional and practice on another one JMHO.

another thing to think about is if the deer has any drag marks on it's head. you could turn that side of the head to the wall.
