DEER NOSE FINISHING.....Mod podge or Apoxie Sculp & Dan D Noser???

I was just curious....What is everybody's favorite way to finish/texture a deer's nose pad??? My favorite way is to rough up the pad a little bit, then run a contoured light layer of black Apoxie Scult on the pad, then wet my Dan D Noser with water, and roll it over the pad...It is soooooooooooooooooooooo easy, but my customers absolutely love the texture of this method...It really makes your work stand out from the other guy's that maybe just airbrushes it black and clear coats over it.... I also like to airbrush my deer nose with Wildlife Colors JET BLACK, with 2 drops of white mixed thoroughly....It gives a very realistic color to a deer's nosepad...

I use mod podge 80% of the time or sometimes I put a thick layer of glue under the nose pad when mounting. And then as the glue starts to kick I take a small screw driver and go around the nodules on the pad. And this will cause the glue to form to the nose pad texture.......When painting i like the oil's... black, white, and a touch of (mars red @ lower section at lip line). Then just a touch of gloss to mainly the lower 1/2 of the nose pad.

Order a back Issue of Breakthrough #63 and try Ben Mears way of doing a Whitetail nose. It will greatly improve your mounts.

I spray flesh all over the nose. wpie off with actone. This leaves the flesh in the cracks then take raw umber 1 drop of black. Then spray from side angles not directly at nose. It will paint the pad not the cracks then mod podge leaves a nice finish. you still can see some of the flesh.
