if wet tanned skin is flexible you shouldnt have to rehydrate - thats supposed to be one of the benefits of wt - thaw and mount

For the most part my wet tanned hides are ready to mount up (after the face is thinned) when I get them back from my tannery. I will usually sponge the skin side with warm water with a little Dreft. That was a suggestion from my tannery. The warm water just gives a little stretch. It also smells nice. Sometimes I will wash the whole hide in this water and Dreft if it looks like the hair is a little dirty from saw dust or whatever. I'll just get most of the water out of the hair side with some big towels just prior to mounting.

Strive for perfection. That way if you fall a little short it'll still be pretty darn good.

Dreft is a laundry soap. It's for baby clothes so it has a nice smell to it.
