Krowtan Neutralization Question

Can someone out there tell me why the Krowtan instructions for neutralizing state that if you use baking soda rather than sodium bicarbonate, you should use twice the recomended amount?  My box of Arm & Hammer lists the sole ingredient as sodium bicarbonate.  It's certainly not a cost issue by any means, I'm just curious about the chemistry.

doesnt matter how much you use - dump in 4 ounces and you are okay up to 4 gallons
