killn fleas?...

how long do i need to keep this fox in the freezer to kill the fleas? 

...or is there a better way to erase their exsistence

ok well...the way these things were popin out'a the plastic bag youd of thought they were trying to steal the fox

no seriously they're isnt that many of them, maybe six or eight that were visible at the time. it is a fresh killed fox so i guess i may just have to freeze for a while...or is it safe for the hide if i RAID these little boogers just a bit???

hello I am the new gal on here I do taxidermy and I have a store on ebay. I have emailed TerryR on there.     I do taxidermy and believe it or not We have fleas on our critters even here in Alaska at 70 below zero!  freezing the animal works okay, but the easiest way is to take a large garbage bag spray inside the bag with raid or flea spray and put the critter in it and close it up tight.  Put it in a cool dark place.  It asphixiates the little $%$&^The fleas will all croak in 20 to 30 minutes. It does not hurt the critter any this way at all.

I think freezing is best. It kills a lot of other things, also, including some bacteria. Freeze it just long enough to get the body hard. The AK situation, those bodies are still warm, and fleas stay next to the skin to keep from freezing. Once an animal is dead, and starts cooling, critters generally start to leave.

The best method I have used is to take a roll of toilet paper, soak it in laquer thinner, put it in a gallon zip-lock bag, and whenever you have a flea/tick infested critter just put the animal in a large black garbage bag put the ziplock in with the animal, open up the ziplock bag and the laquer fumes WILL kill all those pesky creepy crawlers in less than 10 minutes, When done close the ziplock bag back up until you need it next time, I used this method many times with great success.
