XL wolf form questions

i'm trying to get started on my 2nd lifesize wolf.

the skin i have is 62" nose to base of tail, but all of the catalogs i have don't carry anything over 55".  are there larger forms out there, or will i just need to modify a smaller form?

Your probably going to have to modify one to get the pose you want . Just like we did on your first one ..... Gladys  How have you been ? The last time I saw you your boyfriend looked a little pissed cause you wouldn't let him drive . Did he ever get over it ?

he's hanging opposite the front door, which is glass.  people walk by every now and then and see the bear, and say "gee, that's sad"... and i giggle.

did you remember to stretch some of that extra length into girth? I'd bet one of those 55 inch forms would work out fine after all the skin is taxi-ed into the relief cuts. If not, you may have to add 4-5 inches to the body length.

Gladys,most wolves are case skinned and all case skinned hides are stretched too long.A 55" wolf is a huge one and I've yet to mount one bigger than that,not that it couldn't happen.Bill Dishman is right,once you start working the hide into place you will find that it will be a lot shorter than your 62" measurement.Buy the 55" form but don't cut anything till you've thoroughly test fit the skin,pinning every part exactly where it needs to go on the form.If you have to expand the form,which I doubt,it will be minimal.You just aren't likely to see a wolf that mounts 62".A 55" wolf is a huge one.Just remember,case skins,especially from trappers,always measure considerably longer than the finished mount will be.I just bought a wolverine that measures 40" in length,case skinned and I promise you it will mount on a 32"-33" form.Good luck with your project.
