Digital camera question

   My kids got me a nice little cannon powershot for x-mas. Before, I would use my Mother in laws but the batteries always seemed to die very quickly. Now I got my own...... I took about six pictures on x-mas day and didnt touch it for a week. I picked it up today and the batteries were dead! I did not leave it on or anything like that. I thought it was just my moms camera.... Do all digitals do this? I have heard others say that their batteries die quick also. Should I remove the batteries after each use? Are rechargeables any better? Please help if you can! Thanks, Todd

I'm glad my Canon xti is not like that, it's rechargeable battery seems to last forever, but the old HP I had was va battery eating machine - film was cheaper. Forget using cheap dollar store batteries, it would show up with only half power. I bought an Engergizer charger and batteries and they worked fine in the HP. They lasted just as long as regular Energizers or Duracells, but they are cheaper in the long run. Just keep a spare set charged.

I use a sony cybershot that uses a type G lithiom ion battery  (small camcorder battery I believe)   I charge that thing overnight every month or so.....  I have heard that digitals with replaceable batteries eat them pretty quick though.

I got one that takes 2 double a's. You could put those digital power batteries in it and not even turn it on the the next day it would be dead. I just bought another one today that is litheum and rechargeble. Guess Ill see how that goes.

I bought Wife a new Digital Cam also for Xmas. She took 2 pics and it shut down. I was pissed figured it was messed up. It turned out the Brand New Rechargeable Batterys were bad.

   I would check and see if that camera can take a rechargeable ion battery made by the manufacture. I only charge mine once a month, if that. I used to have a camera that took AA and it ate up batteries til I bought a rechargeable pack from the manufacture.

our kodak 5mp digital is a battery eater, even the rechargeables go quick thru it, now the SVP camera i bought off of ebay that is 10 mp came with a lithium ion rechargeable cell phone type battery, one charge on it lasts a month or better, and it charges back up in a matter of an hour or so, i would invest in a good set of rechargeables and see what that gets you, Russ

I also have a Rebel XT and with the pics I take, I bet I don't change the battery more than every other month!  These batteries are $50 a piece and worth every single penny.
I had a pos digital camera before this that took AA batteries, and that thing ATE batteries!

Ditto here!  I had a digital with AA batteries. It ate them up quick.  Now I have an Olympus with a re-chargable lithium and I bet I can get 200 plus photos before I recharge it.

I have metal hydride batteries in mine and a charger, and they seem to last quite a while. Just don't do a whole lot of reviewing of the pictures cause that'll eat em up quick.
The lithium are probably even better still.

My first digital went thru batteries like water. You take a pic with zoom and it would SUCK the juice. Then I got another camera, sony, it was little better, Id keep my charger handy and switch them out about every other day.
 My new camera is a FujiFilm, Finepix s700.. It takes 4 AA batteries and lasts a lot longest... I can go weeks without having to change them. I use my zoom alot and it doesnt suck batteries. I use regular ole duracel non chargables and IM real hapy with it.  It real cold weather it did suck the batteries, but at 30 below zero the cold drained all our batteries. Including our cell phones LOL.. I bought this one at WalMart, and added a 1 gig sd memory card. Total price was only 270.00  Pretty cheap I thought and I LOVE it. It takes excellent pics too and at real long ranges And I am soo glad I dont go thru batteries like I used to.

  I'll have to see if mine will take some kind of rechargeable batteries. Why would it suck juice if its turned off though? Maybe I should return it or exchange it for something different. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Rechargable lithiums are the only way to  go. I guess people are not aware of the battery thing when they purchas a digital camera.

Olympus 8.0 the Litium . E2 batteries last forever no matter what I am doing with it. other batteries would go dead very very quickly, even recargables did not work.

I have had the camera two years and taken over 400 pics and used  six of the E2 litiums.
