I know that many of you nerds have been orgasming over the ability of this new forum to post your pictures, but I'd be remiss (in fact, I'd be UN-Georgelike) if I didn't tell you that many of you should think long and hard about that feature before using it.

Nobody ever fathered or bore an ugly baby to hear them tell it.  Yet we all know there are UGLY babies out there.  No one ever had phone sex with an ugly person. The voice on the other end of that line can be anyone you want it to be, but few of us want to experience the letdown of that voice not matching that fantasy.

I see The Taxidermologist even wondering if the picture on my posts was actually me.  (Sorry, I'm not Robert Redford nor even Dan Rinehart as one person thought I was when I had the one of me in uniform on there).

BUT, some of you are posting pictures of your work on here and I truly hope your ego is stable enough not to be badly brusied when someone gets frank and truthful with you and tells you that your "baby" would make a buzzard puke.  I've seen of OK work and I've seen some questionable work and I've seen some horrific work and inevitably, someone will be real nice and say, "Good Job."  But there are some really REALLY ugly babies on here.   And no, I'm not going to venture out and tell you which ones they are, but PLEASE don't ask me to critique some of it unless you can stand the truth.  In the meantime, I'll just look and snicker to myself quietly.

I'm "Glad" to see you finally got here George! Man, I was starting to worry. You haven't had much to say since they started the new forum. But now I can rest because I know all is right in the universe! Thanks George.

Yea George Thats why the picture of the buck in my avatar is small and far away so you cant see whats wrong with it, ha ha.  Also, not that its a bad thing, but your picture isn't what I pictured you looking like.  I guess you just get something in your head and then see them and they aren't what you thought.  Sorry if it sounds bad, I don't mean it that way.  Anyway, that ugly baby in the picture I got 3rd with a 78 at the PTA show last year, I know now what needs worked on though.

I agree with George 100%. I noticed the "nice job" on many photo posts and wanted to speak up. But I kept silent for now while I figure out this new forum. George spoke up first so I'm following his lead.  If they want an honest opinion on their mount should  get it. That is the best way to learn how to improve. If they are looking for the pat on the back to stroke their ego, forget it.You don't get better from that and you don't learn to improve that way. You eventually just end up with a pissed off customer and bad reputation for poor work. That is  the main reason why I get on here is to offer what I know  and  help out when I can.  I've been helped along the way many years ago and learned a lot from others and worked hard to get where I'm at. I feel I need to pass it on and  help the new guys out there like I was helped 23+ years ago. Just like a competition critique you need to learn from mistakes and not get upset. If you ask- what do you think ? we should be honest and tell you, with out putting you down. Take it in stride and learn from it. Sugar coating gets you nowhere

Evelyn I'm still figuring out how to post the emoticons from my browser with an http link vs. just an img. A little rough around the corners right now.

It's one thing to give an honest opinion when asked, but it's quite another to COMMENT about how you "quietly sniker" about others work!

It will all be worth it if they take our advice and come back later with an improved mount. When I critique someones work I always try to find something I like about it before I level the bad news. You have to admit though, the photos make it a lot easier to put things in perspective!
