Stupid comments or just down right rude people?

I posted that I would like to buy some squirrels on a homestead group..(in the hunting area) Some guy right away posts that its illegal to sell any wildlife....
I mean come on- I didnt ask to buy an eagle its a freaking squirrel.. and a common gray one at that LOL.. And I surely wasnt asking someone to poach the dang thing... What is with people that just ASSUME that since they dont know about it, that it is illegal?? I mean what in the world does this guy think trappers do with all them critters they catch? Wallpaper their walls with fur??
I was told by several people to "find a different job" when I had posted asking for a coon. When they asked why I said to mount it.. They thought it was horrible that I wanted a coon simply to mount it.. They said it was a waste since I didnt eat the meat.. Hey I was nice.. I did offer to send them the meat if theyd pay for shipping
IS it common for such negative and down right stupid comments like these or did I just happen to get my years share all at once?

ROR, its called stupidity. THey dont know the laws in all the states they just jump to conclusions, you see it here too.
I would tell the jerk to "RESEARCH THE LAWS" then quote them back. Yes in many states its illegal to sell wildlife, but then you can still sell the hide from it. Some you can sell the whole animal as in furbearers, Oh wait I have bbqed bobcat and Mt Lion, along with the tender young coon.
Tell them to get the codes and get back to you!

Rae, In most States, the public can not sell wild game dead or alive without the proper permits, so in a way they were right about it being illeagle to sell game. Most everyone on this site has the ok to sell game and parts of game if they are licensed according to their States regulations. But going to an outsider web site and asking for critters is asking in the wrong place. I haven't tried it, but if I went to Health Boards .com, and asked for critters I 'd get the same responce. lol
or we could go over to that website and rudely straighten them out like some trappers came over to this site on the thread, " heres a nice coon" LMAO

Stupidity should hurt!
My favorite right now is “you’re a taxidermist that’s just great” or “you know that animal was happier in the woods ALIVE”

Well in TX you cannot sell any game animal or part thereof with the exception of deer and deer parts like antlers and bones. That means, since squirrels are listed in our state as game animals, I cannot sell a squirrel to you. In some states it is legal to sell squirrels and in others it is not.

Funny thing one guy that posted is in Wisconsin... Now the last time I checked the map Western Gray Squirrels arent in that state.. He started quoting regs and such...AND he wasnt even refering to a squirrel he was refering to a deer? I know that I mispell sometimes but I THINK squirrel and deer look like two different words to me and I KNOW you cant fit 4 deer whole frozen in a flat rate priority box LOL...
SO I went to his state regs and pulled up the trappers regs... Gee I can buy bobcat, fisher and otter etc..
SO much for his quoting of it being illegal to sell any wildlife. I can understand being misinformed, but Holy Cow youd think that before people jump in and proclaim to the world that you are requesting something illegal that they would at first LOOK to see if they are right..
Still doesnt explain why the response was about deer and such since I was asking about a squirrel that lives on the west coast LOL...
Now this was posted in the hunting/fishing/trapping section. (that is the description on the main board) And I have several people who offered me hides on there so I didnt think it would be out of place to post wanting a couple of squirrels LOL.. Sillly me

Western Grey Squirels are protected by a hunting season here in Oregon & California. They are game Mammals
& you can not sell them.
You are responsible to know what is legal in your own state that you can & cant sell.
It takes one phone call to Sacramento to get a copy of the regulations.
All laws are different in Every state But if you break certain laws you could be breaking the Lacy act which is a Federal offence & you do not want them to visit you.
Be safe, Protect yourself & dont take someone elses word that it is legal.
I call them All the time & they are very curtious & have always gave me a straight answer.

Well that isnt entirely true either....
Here is the code regarding what you can and cannot sell in Calif-- Havent checked Oregon yet LOL
As with any state you cant just check shooting, if you check trapping, and fur dealers permits most times youll find there is a legal way to sell most any game or nongame animal.....Some requiring special tagging, others just require you have a certain license.
The following species may be sold as noted:
Abalone shell: Only if taken under the authority of a Commercial Abalone License.
Badger: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Beaver: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Bobcat: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Caribou: Only if legally taken and imported from the state or province where taken.
Coyote: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Deer: The hide of any lawfully taken deer. The antlers of any deer that have been shed and found in the field, the antlers from any domestically raised deer or the antlers of any deer that have been legally imported. All antlers must be cut into blocks or made into articles prior to sale. No complete antlers may be sold.
Grey fox: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Mink or Weasel: All parts if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Moose: Only if legally taken and imported from the state or province where taken.
Muskrat: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Opossum: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Porcupine: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Raccoon: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Skunk: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Squirrel: All parts, if taken under the authority of a trapping license.
Taxidermy Mounts: A taxidermist, who mounts an animal for another person, may sell unclaimed taxidermy mounts only to recoup the cost of labor or materials invested in the mount. The taxidermist must show all documents regarding such mounts to any officer upon demand. Additionally, a taxidermist may mount tanned hides purchased from a fur dealer or trapper and sell such mounts.
Upland Game Birds: Domestically raised quail, pheasant and chukar may be sold.
White-tailed Deer: Only if legally taken and imported from the state or province where taken.

Ok, You got me on that one, But now Do You have a trapping license?
Yes there are ways to sell most animals, but there are ways to bring an ivestigating officer to your door also & one is postings on this site.
The Fish & Game checks on here regularly to see whats is being offered for sale or purchase, & it doesnt take long for them to come looking for an item you had posted, It happened to me already & if I had not had the proper paper work I would have been cited & had to go to court.
All I am saying, No matter what state you are from, check the laws of your state with the ones that will be busting you. Not Billy Bob from Elk Snot Kentucky.

I got into it really nasty on a fishing site a while back. I made the mistake of saying talapia were great at eating up filamentous algae in private ponds. Next thing I know I'm getting a lecture on " Don't we have enough exotics in our waters?" I came back with I was talking about private ponds and the talapia dies off when the water temps drops below 50 F. so there is really no danger of them taking over. Then I get an individual that claims when he was a grad student at an unnamed university in New York, they had talapia overwinter under the ice. Funny thing is he couldn't come up with the name of the university or his professor after I repeatedly request the information. I said there are no documented cases of that and I'd really like to see proof. Of course the anglers take his side and bash me as the dirty fish farmer that is bringing in exotics -- nevermind the guy is lying through his teeth. I'm telling you folks the chances are greater for a trout to survive tropical temperatures than a talapia to make it through the winter in the north. I finally got fed up and didn't come back. God I hate ignorance!

Weaver read the book again. Red, fox, and gray squirrels are listed as game animals. Flying and ground squirrels are considered non game animals. According to TPW regs, squirrels can therefore not be sold in TX. It don't make sense to me, but then again a lot of wildlife regulations make sense.
