it looks like a wheat stuble field, however, for a habitat for a bird, it is hard to look at. With so many verticals, I'm afraid that the piece will not look as good as it could. Try this, I know that the combine will cut the wheat all at the same height, but maybe in the back corner behind the bird, there should be some taller stuble. Also, the stuff laying on the ground looks great, and should be there, but, maybe throw some broken off stuble in the mix, what I mean is partially broken off. Going up, broken, and the remainder falling on an angle to the ground. Now, dont do that till the bird is placed onto the base. Work with the bird and make the whole piece come alive. Make the bird appear to be facing downwind, that way, make the broken wheat stuble go with the bird, from the back of the bird to the front.

I am not a bird guy but I am a goose guide. It looks great but....If it was to look "realistic", I would put the wheat stubble in to 2 or 3 sections like rows in the field. And maybe more stubble. But it does lood very nice . I'll see if I have a pic. I might. If I do, I'll post it for you.

I will agree with M.T. . Vary the height in places to work with the bird that your putting on it and you will have a winner. Post some pics when your done. Looks good so far.

I would do as duxdog recommended, space it out a little, like rows would be in a cornfield and bend a few and size them like M.T. suggested and I think you'd have a awesome looking base. Great idea.

Looks great, just pull in the couple that are hanging over the edge of the wood portion of the base, think that will tighten it up a little.

When grain is harvested, you don't see alot of dirt and rows are very evident, with bent over stubble as there is always some left.
