...of making artificial ice for a basework. Tell me what you think of it! I have to put some snow on it and make a "lake bottom" for the base. I've thought to put some duck in there or a crow picking a perch..? Got to think what I'm putting there, but tell me pro's what you think of it ... Huh

I'm no pro with habitat, I fight it or it fights me - not quite sure which. From that photo it looks really great. My only question - Is that the reflection of the wood on the ice or are we actually seeing the wood below the ice (seeing it through the ice)? If you can see the wood looking through the ice you may want to add a little color to that part of the wood base. I'm not for sure what color would work best for the depth you may want to achieve. I would try holding some colored paper (light blue, grey) underneath to kinda see what the effect would be. Hopefully someone will reply with the right answer for the color. Really looks good though.

Yeah, that's wood. I'm not sure either how I'll try to make that not so visible,so thank's for your advice! Maybe I'll put that snow on the sides to hide it?

Taxi-lover, read this thread - I think it is along the same line as your situation.

It's done on plexiglass with clear casting resin. I poured little area and when it started to gel I stirred and pushed it with wooden spatula to make it look like broken ice. After that I poured another dose and followed same operation. When it was done 3/4 from the plexiglass I poured the last one resin dose but stirred it only little when gelling to make it look smoother ice. It took something like 6 to 8 pour to do the whole base. Hope you understood and I helped somehow... You should do only a little at once, not all!
