Thought I'd ask everyone if they have gone bear hunting recently, and who did they go with (guide service or outfitter). What was your overall satisfaction of the experiance........I'm planning for next year with my son-in-law who just got out of the Air Force....any help is greatly appreciated.........

Hi Charles,
Last May I hunted with Chad Lenz of The Bear Company out of Ft McMurray, Alberta. We were covered up with bear!! Chad runs a great outfit and definitely knows what he's doing. What I really liked was that you can buy a $50.00 tag for wolf and you can take as many wolf as you want - if, of course, you see them. A couple of guys in camp saw several wolves but were bowhunting and didn't get a shot. That's specifically why I took a rifle but didn't see any wolves.
Here's their website:

And a photo of my boar . . .

Joe t,
I believe that 800 dollar fee is only applied IF you choose to take a "second" bear. They consider all bears trophies. At least that's the way I understand it. It looks like a great place to hunt for bear.

Try North Carolina. Conman's Guide Service. He had two clients this past week that killed bears over 600lbs.. One was 616 and the other was 663lb.
www.conmans.net
They are highly reputable here in the state.

The $800.00 is only if you take a second bear. If you go with them listen to what they tell you. They'll tell you how to tell if a bear is a shooter or not. Also, don't get in a hurry and shoot the first bear you see. Hold out for a big one.
Good luck!
