I hope these pics are the right size.
I'm still having trouble at times with sizing them.
I'm a taxidermist,not Bill Gates hahaha  Grin
I have WAY to many hrs into this piece.
But it's coming up on comp time again in a little over a month and I want to be noticed this yr haha Grin
I do have 2 of the 4 pheasants done for this piece but someone( no names mentioned and you know who you are) doesn't need to see them until the comp.

Enjoy!!!!
Jeff

Jeff, very well done!

I've been planning one very similar to yours with the wagon wheel. I need a rustic look habitat that I can mount (7) quail flushing out of, and the wheel will give a nice point of attachment.  Can you tell me the measurements of your Habitat/Base?

Thanks -

You did a good job Jeff...snow's hard to keep clean long term.  Are you going to put it in a cabinet or anything?  Looks dang good & I bet you'll get more than "noticed."  Wink

Thanks everyone and Lisa the snow is sealed and should be able to just blow any dust off with a can of compressed air when needed.

How did you seal the snow?  I just did a big snow base and I am worried about it down the road.

Shaggy,
Some of the snow is covered in envirotex to give it a heavier look and the rest was set with spray glue then a light coat of clear laquer..be careful not to hit it too hard or it will melt the foam snow.

Jason,
I had a taxidermy friend of mine give me ideas(didn't tell me exactly how) to do these things. He said if I think about it instead of being told how to do it I would learn how it works more. I believe he was right.
Any how here is what I use.
The snow I unfortunately have to make myself now because a certain co. doesn't make it any more.(don't know why you stop making a good thing)
The base starts with polyfill (quilt stuffing) then........
I use the white Styrofoam and a cheese grater on the fine side to make the snow now. I finish up the snow with some clear glitter to give it some sparkle.
The ice is made with cotton batting and envirotex lite.
It all takes some time to do but is well worth the time.
PS it's fun too.
If you want to learn more give me a ring and I'd be happy to talk to you about it.

Jeff, thank you so much for telling us...but not telling us.  Wink  Very nice of you.  Have you ever rubbed 2 pieces of the white Styrofoam together?  You get twice as much "snow" with the same amount of effort.
