1. Removing Pro-Plus oil from fur and 2. stretching pelt?

I'm at the breaking stage of tanning a coyote and I got a fair amount of breaking oil on the fur side. Can I wash the pelt briefly in dilute soapy water as long as I continue stretching and breaking as it re-dries? Is there a better way to remove the oil?
Sencondly, when breaking and stretching a small animal hide, should it be stretched out and tacked during the final drying stages? Thanks.

Use sawdust with a solvent such as mineral spirits or paint thinner to clean up oil on fur. No need to stretch and tack a animal out. Before breaking wait til majority of hide is almost dry then start breaking. Washing the hide with soapy water is only adding additional work to your project. Most tumble in sawdust, this breaks the hide and cleans the fur (oil in fur etc.). Continue breaking the hide and do your fur cleanup when you do your final comb out.
