tre,

you gotta get that baby kiln dired.  that will bake it and kill off all the bugs.  if there still in there even if you put poly on it or anything they will keep eating and even eat though the poly.  make sure to get it to a dry kiln before you use it.

hope that helped

I have a dry kiln and yes Andrew is right you could have any thing from termites to spiders along with larva waiting to hatch. I have bear logs available for shipping by the time we would ship your log both ways depending on the size I could ship you one of mine unless this piece you have is special for some reason. if you would like to see pictures I can send you some, otherwise send me a picture of your log and ill try to match it up with one of mine. an other concern is if you send me your log make sure you wrap it well we dont need to take the chance of having bugs fall out along the way . Just because you live in Ohio and me in Wisconsin says the log is comming straight to me it might go to New York  first. Do you know what type of wood you log is.

Tre,

I would hit up Bud here for a log.  You could try to dry it yourself but theres a whole science to that by itself.  A skill that takes years to master.  If not make a inclosed area and pound high heat to it for 5-7 days.  get it off the ground with some 4x4s and just let the heat bake it.   Good luck.  If you dont wnat to mess around that much give Bud a call.

tre hey there  could you  give me some specs on your bear log  how long what dia. is your bear going to be standing on it or just steping up to it. Is this log going to be coming out of a wall or is it going to be lying on some type of ground habitat.  Thanks Bud
