No, though some say you need glass or metal, you do not. I am using a 2.5 gallon square bucket currently that has a lid that seals. If acetone ate plastic, why do they sell nail polish remover in small plastic bottles! Nail polish remover is....acetone.

Boys, It will not melt a 5 gallon or the heavy plastic buckets. Take it to the bank. The vapors will melt the seal on the lids though.

look for containers that have hdpe or pp stamped in the bottom acetone does eat certain types of plastic PVC for example I'm not a big fan of flammable liquid in glass containers

antlerless or canines I have always used 5 gallon bucket with a lid but found out about the seal on the lid by accident. would be nice to find a good sealing container for stubborn/greasy antlered critters so it doesn't evaporate so fast.

For the acetone I use a metal turkey fryer pot with a lid. It will fit up to a 19" bear lying flat and you can seal the lid by taping with blue painters tape. I check on the skull every few days and have had skulls soaking for up to five weeks in the acetone to remove stubborn spots. I have not recorded any serious amounts of evaporation. I can get any where from 3-5 bears done before I have to replace the acetone.
