First Raccoon Mount
«

I am going to begin my first mount soon (Georgia Raccoon). I have been reading up here on Taxi-Net for several months almost religiously everytime I have a free moment. I plan on doing a case incision because I pretty much know that I suck at sewing and this hopefully will be easier to hide. Alright now the questions. After skinning all the way down to the toenails, fleshing, tanning (Krowtann), fleshing again and getting ready to mount do I rebuild the feet area i.e. pads with critter clay? Are their any good coon videos out there? Although I have bought all of my supplies so far from WASCO has anyone ever used the forms from Dan Chase Taxidermy Supply with any luck? I know this is a lot of questions but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

There is a reason that the company you speak of cant even be named here.. on top of it the forms are brittle, cheap foam, horrible customer service and they over charge...
Yes you fill the feet with clay, you can use critter clay or potters clay. I use potters clay for everything but the eyes..
AS for fleshing, you flesh everything off then tan.. Then if you need to thin the hide you can shave it thinner.
Good luck and post pics when your done

I was wondering about the un-named company. Somehow they sent me a catalog and every page hurts my eyes. I think my nine year old could produce a better catalog. Thanks for the info.
