I'm BACK.......

I usually dont post on this board, but I figure thie is the best place to ask a question like this.

I have a customer who wants two small birds mounted on some manzanita branches. He brought me several beautiful branches, some for me to keep for myself. It will also be great for an open mouth whitetail mount I am working on. But it has lots of small leaves, and I want to keep them on, as well as the beautiful red color.

Does anyone have some suggestions for preserving the red color on the wood, and keeping those little leaves attached? Should I coat each leaf with something and glue on? Is there a spray made for this? Kinda new at habitat stuff, I usually use dried plants or fake stuff.

Thanks for any help!

The leaves will dry and fall off...  Not much you can do about it.  You could try some of the preservation stuff, but I can't imagine even a fresh cut branch will absorb much, even less likely to get to the leaves.

Another option is to pluck the leaves and soak in the plant preservation stuff, but they are pretty waxy and tough, so again, not sure they'd absorb much.  You could try to find suitable artificial leaves that resemble them....

The red color should stay there no problem...  Just keep it inside and let it dry (or outside during the day, it's been pretty moist at night/mornings lately).
