I dropped out of High School after finishing 11th grade. I dropped out because I had a job offer to work full-time at a taxidermy studio. I had been doing taxidermy since age 12 and I had no desire to persue anything but taxidermy. I had the blessings of my parents and most of my teachers, they thought it was a good move.
Education is to prepare you for a career, and in my case, to turn down the job offer so that I could finish the 12th grade didn't make sense.
Who is it that makes us look dumb ?
I think they ( Hollywood ) make us look morbid and creepy. They always portray us as a Norman Bates / psycho.

I too, have a Master's Degree.  I spent many hours of my life with my nose in a text book, but here is what hurts the most.  I probably make more money from a trade that I learned from a WASCO video, than the job I got from 6 years of college education.  Pretty sad, isn't it.   If it wasn't for the thought of wasting a college education and countless tuition fees, I would probably do taxidermy full time.  (Also, the fact, I am a terrible businessman, comes into play in that decision.)

Bachelor's degree in Biology with Minor in Organic Chemistry.  I originally went to college for Family Medicine in an accelerated program.  After completing the program I was about to leave for Med School when I realized I was only "going to be a doctor" for my parents' sake.  THEY wanted a son that was a doctor---I wanted nothing to do with it.  Graduated with a BS in Biology and now I play with dead things.....HA!

I knew there was a reason Cristie fell so in looooooooovvvvveee  with you Paul.....it isn't because you were never a smart ass, it's because you were  just plain smart!!!  LOL Cheesy

Bachelor's degree in Biology.  And I have never used it.  Makes me wish I could have taken the money and invested it in the stock market.  I have a very expensive piece of paper haning on the wall though.

Voted some college here....

Am 3/4 the way to an associates in Biz Admin. However when family issues changed, school was the first thing to be marked off the list. I seriously doubt i would need the piece of paper when i do finally go back and get it....but i suppose, i am one of the 'rare' ones---i actually enjoy school  Grin

PhD in SA.  (Thats Smart A**)

For my doctoral thesis I printed all my posts from Taxi.net and bound them in corinthian leather.

The board was spechless.

Actually I went to 5 different colleges and universities while in the service.  My degree is a mishmash of who knows what.  Enjoyed school though.

Most of time you come across on here like the Beavus of your avatar ? Einstein looks dumb in his photos and his parents thought he was retarded when he was a child.

Did someone hijack your login???

I disagree with your religious rants and that somehow makes me dumb/retarded???  Or my dumb/retarded avatar belies the underlying intelligence?  Which one is it?

You're the one that took my "I am [challenging someone's belief based on their assertions]" response and twisted it in your head into some pyscho-christian-cult-leader response of "I am God" (which COULD have held some credibility had I not been arguing from the AGNOSTIC side of the table!!! [translation: how could I not believe in god, yet find myself to BE god?  THAT would be a contradiction]).

But, I digress before I get my own poll zapped....  (feel free to take it to current events)

Hey PWS, I got an MBA but I don't charge more than $500.00 for a deer head and as for the methodologies, I charge enough to cover my time, overhead and salary.
I use a simple equation for my money, the business gets 2/3rds and I get 1/3.  Oh yeah when a customer causes no problems, pays on time and is happy, that's a  luxury item to me.  HA HA HA

People that go to school most all there life do finally find themselves who they are even if it is being a Taxidermist. KBauman you are right about how this all works out. We never quit learning though, no school will teach you the others things you will have to learn like everyone else. Life comes right back at you for all that you put into it. If education was not as much help to us  all then we all can just vote for Hillary since she will make us all village idiots in her plan anyway. Al Gore once said, American's do not know what they want or how to do it, so he will do it for us, typical communist control in the new democratic ways of America. No education ever hurt anybody. Some people will learn very much from a forum like this right here. This is similar to school with all the information about this profession just like many others on the web or TV. People should grasp the full realm of life and it's adventures, do it all.
