Farm Girl,
You can get the dry preservatives out of AAA Taxidermy Supply in Calgary. The also have a Web Site. The painted skulls look great. If you would like to sell one I you get fresh, I would be interested. I live North of Edmonton.

I've raised longhorns for about 20 years and have never done this. Thank you for sharing. Fixing to try my first one.

I just did a horn only (long horn) mount and wished I'd read this sooner as it would have saved me a lot of time and work with getting the horns off.

Did not see a degreasing step? Not needed?
I am doing on now and have it soaking in an Ammonia bath to degrease. this would be great if it is not needed.

I have a question about the heat causing the cellophane to melt, what do you do if it does melt? and will it hurt the skull? and what if the weather is not during the warm months, will you need to heat the water?
Thanks for the post, it was very well done and must of taken some time. it is greatly appreciated.
Glory to Him.
