Go ahead and try the aztek, that way when you use a real airbrush (RENEGADE) you will know why it's the best.

Renegade Spirit will do about anything you need to do. A little slow for broad coverage on "big" fish, but that would be the only drawback.
I would not run any gloss or sealer through it either. Buy a cheap Paasche VL for that. The VL will also do the broad coverage.

the vega 2000 now put out by badger air brush.  Does everything from details to large coverage and is a very tough brush for heavy use

Go ahead and try the aztek, that way when you use a real airbrush (IWATA) you will know why it's the best.

Iwata HP-SB Plus will do about anything you need to do. A little slow for broad coverage on "big" fish, but that would be the only drawback.
I would not run any gloss or sealer through it either. Buy a cheap Paasche VL for that. The VL will also do the broad coverage.

This man speaks the truth. One thing that will drive you nutz about the Aztec is the two-piece color cups- they take forever to clean.

The Vega does NOT hold a candle to the HP-SB Iwata. I use both. The Vega is OK for broad coverage. Try the Iwata and never go back.........................Thanks Pescado
I also have numerous Paasche's...they make GREAT paper weights Never had the guts to try an aztec .  Always looked like a kids toy to me.

There is no such thing as ONE "best airbrush" for fish.  You will always need TWO.  One for the broad coverage work and one detail airbrush.  My choices are the Vega 2000 for broad coverage and the Iwata HP-B(.20 tip) for the details.  Neither one does BOTH jobs.

I used a paasche for 16 years. I kept hearing practice, practice, practice, and you can get better at painting fish. Yes I did get better. Tried an Aztec, not good. Then I bought 2 Iwatas. I wish I would of bought them 18 years ago. They seem to do the detail work for you. I struggled for 16 years getting better. I've seen more improvement in the last 18 months than the 16 previous years.
They are an incredible tool.
