If the smell of WD-40 is offensive, I'd say you were pretty much SOL.  I use linseed/turpentin on a 50/50 mix on all my dark horns and on whitetail antlers.  It's a natural produce (sorry, Jim, so is olive oil) and it soaks into the horn to keep it vivid.  Neats Foot might work but it's a finishing oil and leaves a harder shell when it finally dries. (Back when I played baseball we never used it. We used 10W40 motor oil and wrapped a glove with the ball in the 'pocket'. That way, the leather was ultra soft and you could 'throw your glove' at the ball and it would nestle into the pocket with ease.)

I had a harder time getting the turpentine...  wally world had no love for me in that department...  got me the linseed oil though...  Lowes fit the bill with the turpentine though...

George, I remembered from the old forum when I asked about the Ibex horns and you told me that formula...  have passed it on many times since then...  thanks again....  now if only  ican locate my buddy who I deployed with to get him his horns...  I might hang them on my wall until this happens...
