Rich, Alum? don't know. Lu tan that's what I'm told. What ever, I truly don't care what they tan it with they could use chicken soup for all I care.  I just pulled out a 10 year old skin for a lifesize Gemsbok tanned by Modern Fur that was in a box in storage and mounted it with no problems.

I talked to them , Its alum, not that it matters.... i use WG now but i am sending my next couple batches of hides to modern to try them out

Dennis, thanks for the re-phrasing.

His name is Bill Wille. Extra i there.LOL

Well, did you know that Bill gets most of his African tanned in Africa? Bill and his wife Donna spend most of the summer in Africa, so he leaves it there.

The only African we get from him, are HIS OWN PERSONAL SKINS. That should say something there! Of course, now, I guess you are going to say you are mounting his North American stuff. Roll Eyes

If you want to give someone a good back scratching, in public, thats fine. Heaven forbid somebody say something about Carolina? Nope, not even! Just make it true, and accurate, and all is well with me.

I hope all is well with you also!  PS-have you tried crow and dumplings?LOL

Oldshaver, yep, Bill in there now for three months.
Been working with him a long time now.
Talking tanneries with taxidermists is just like talking politics, it usually gets nowhere.
I have no problem with you personally at all. I'm well and Glad you are also.
I guess part of my post is that you and most shavers have a thankless job and what we put out is directly tied to what you shavers give us.
Just about everytime I receive a shipment I cal the tanner not to bitch but to tell the crew thanks !
When most of the calls I would guess form some tanneries, not yours, would be to complain

I'll post a pic next week of the 18 foot croc we just got in, I remember you showed yours I'll show mine  LOL

You are a gentelman Dennis. This turned out pretty good, in my opinion. No harm, no foul.

Please post pictures of that croc, after it is mounted! Your work does look good, there ain't no denying that.

Every once in a while, I get to see pictures of finished mounts, with skins we have tanned, and it makes me, and alot of the folks I work with, proud, to know we had a small part, in a good looking piece. My Boss posts them on our breakroom bulletin board occasionally.  I'm out, have a good night.
