My money is on a large male raccoon. The sagital crest is all wrong for a bear, as is the lower jaw, as well as lots of other characteristics - look at the teeth shape for the lower incisors. People can tell how big a softball is but can't length in inches. Have your friend place a ruler or dollar bill next to it, as that is about 6 inches in length.

Large raccoon, I have one just like it. It came from a 32# male raccoon and is 5.5 inches long.

     I would say almost surely a coon. Have cleaned probably 50 of them and also some bears. Not a bear or badger. Go with coon!
