I thought about that too, they come in all different sizes and would not break.  Make sure you find some sort of thermostat because otherwise you will boil the water or get close to.  They are made for lots and lots of gallons so keep that in mind.  Also, you will have to mount it to the side of your container and make sure you seal it off well because most of the time the wire terminals are bare.

Very cool. I have been thinking on this too. I wish I had access to a used Resturant Supply for a triple stainless sink. May just use a couple of laundry sinks like yours. Please keep us updated on how its working. Thanks for posting it.

Ranco makes some nice controllers, and you can find them on ebay, they go up to 200 deg, I use them for a big oven to postcure my molds, and remove moisture from them.  not sure which one is the best but I use the ETC-111000  to power 2 x 500 watt lights, should be able to power some heaters up to 1200 watts. ranco makes several differnt ones, some have a 24 v output to activate a relay that could handle more power.
just throwing it out there.

Cool setup.  And contrary to popular belief, 220 volts is not cheaper.

You should thank your dad for that thermostat.  I have one that looks identical to it for my bug freezer.  A good friend of mine was lucky enough to come up with it when redoing the electrical in a factory.   Those suckers arent cheap.

Great! Thanks! I was curious if you felt the temps with the heater speeded up the process?

They look nice and white. How long did they take to degrease in your tank?
