what is the best way to make a bases from scratch,have never make one and i am trying t o get in to taxidermy
 and thank u a head of time

foxtrapper,a very simple way would be to cut out a piece of plywood to desired shape then mix elmers glue and water about 2parts glue 1part water then mix in potting soil to make mud then spread it on the plywood let this dry and hot glue some moss and leaves    this is very basic but will get you started

i may do that and throw a antler or a log on it to. i dont know if both the log and the antler would be to much thow

bagger99,i use the real stuff most of the time. i soak the moss in a mixture of glycerin and water about 50/50 and on the leaves i paint on mod podge both sides
