how to stabilize a real tree onto a pedestal ?????????

We got this pedestal to put a deer mount onto. We got 2 cedar posts to put on top of it for a fence senary on it. But we need some ideas on how to stabilize the cedar post onto the top of the pedestal. Any Ideas?? The pedestal is

The top on this base comes off so just use some deck screws or lag bolts and come up from the bottom.

I would take some 5/16 threaded rod > cut about 6 inch lengths > Drill approx. 3 holes with a 5/16 bit > tap the rods into the fence and try to get some epoxy resin in through the threads. Once the resin cures, put some T-nuts on the rod and secure to the wood. Then with the assistance of a helping hand and a level, hold the post on top of the ped and circle where the T-rod will go through. Drill holes through the ped and tighten with lock nuts. Cut off excess t-rod.

i agree with marsh master except i use a six inch lag bolt with a pre-drilled hole in the post...filled with bondo of course

Thanks for the advice on it. Was just boggled on how it get something that heavy to get stable there and then put a deer on it. Thanks Alot
