Still have to detail. Will be driving to Jonesboro tomorrow for habitat materials. The Zebra was I believe the toughest animal I have ever mounted. These are both my first. I know there is room for improvement. So anyone that has mounted more of these than I have, feel free to tell me where I can improve. To me they are no different than a fox of a squirrel just bigger.

Nice work. Will the lion be closer to the zebra when finished, like over its back?

Osage,
We must be looking at a different mount, that's not a Mountain Zebra.  Look at your Zebra reference mountain Zebras have no stripes on the belly and the head is different, among other things. Your kidding about there not being any Lions in the mountains right? The whole country of Namibia was coverd with Lions at one time, so was the Cape region of SA where the Mountain Zebras are from also.

no shadow stripe that is weird  i have shot many moutains that have a few stripes that go all most all the way around i wounder  whats up Jerry look at that Zebra and the markings on the back and look at the one on my web site under hunts. I wounder if it is a cross it does not have a dulap on the neck. And the markings look to close togather it is a great looking MOUNT. The stripes go all the way down the leg as a common does not. strang

very very nice work. But the story behind this is one dumb a$$ ZEBRA to be just standing there for the lion to have it for lunch
should of had both front hooves on the ground and the hind hooves kicking at the lion or galloping away  Huh
what do I know Undecided
Great art work for your first ones

OK, I just had a discussion with Osage and he has convinced me that it could be a Mountain Zebra. It has traits that both Burchells and Hartmanns have. Waiting to here where this Zebra came from

Weaver,
Here's a picture of a Mountain Zebra, no belly stripes.

I always thought a true mountain zebra had a white belly and horizonal stripes looking from  the rump. Hartmans zebras are sometimes refered to as "mountain zebras", but are striped around the belly.

Everything I have read or seen so far says the Hartmanns and Mountain Zebra are one in the same, but I was wrong once Grin
