QUESTION ABOUT SKIN PRESERVING
«
on:
May 30, 2008, 10:44:50 PM »
I HAVE BEEN TANNING/PRESERVING MY DUCK SKINS WITH KNOBLOCH'S LIQUA CURE AND HAVE HAD PRETTY GOOD RESULTS. I WAS CURIOUS IF I COULD ALSO USE BORAX IN ADDITION TO THE LIQUA CURE OR WOULD THIS BE A BAD IDEA?

I assume you are fleshing and washing all the fat and oils from the skins before tanning, and if so, you could do just fine without the tanning, and just borax them. If you are not properly fleshing, you will still have problems with tanning.

I prefer to tan my birds but I just use white vinegar and water. Then I use borax.

Thanks for the replies. I think I may just start using borax and save the liqua cure for fish.
