bird's on spin cycle

after degreasing on wheel I thought I would try the dawn "wash and rinse" method without the gas soak just to see for myself how well it would do. In the past I have tossed them in the washing machine on spin cycle (old washer in shop) -vs- in the tumbler to alleviate the cob and hardwood in the feathers. This time I waited for the wife to leave and I slipped them in her new front loading washer and let them spin. skipped the gas soak to cut out odor. After 5 min. the bird's were very close to dry only needed a little blow drying and no visible sign of oil. I was very impressed! That high RPM on these new washers really does the trick. This is now my new procedure, now I have to work ducks around my wife's schedule.

That would be DP from your favorite supplier, preferably one that is flour consistency dusted on very heavy and then mount away.

riverrunner, that's the same thing I've doing for about the past 2 months. I have'nt tumbled a bird about 3 years but I still use to do the white gas method. I went to buy some white gas about 2 months ago and decided I was not gonna pay $10 a gal for it, so I decided to try it without. I too have an old washer on my front porch and it does a good job at spinning out water. Last week I wanted to time how much difference there was in blow drying time between gas and no gas. I started drying a hen goldeneye at 11:40 a.m. and forgot to look at my clock when done drying. I went right to boraxing, wiring wings, inserting legs, sewing up, and posing her. When I finished mounting the bird, I remembered to look at the clock and it was only 12:32 p.m. I personaly have found zero negativeeffects from it, not to mention no harmful or flamable gas. I would urge everyone who does birds, to give this method a try.
