No. Gelcoat is a highly pigmented resin-no cabosil. WASCO sells a great gelcoat. They also sell PVA release which will allow you to get your casting out of your waxed mold.

I get my Gelcoat and PVA from US Composites out of florida
http://www.uscomposites.com/
The exact same stuff the taxi supply companies sell at about half the cost.
Plus if you need any special resins their tech guys will help you out.

I dont use PVA, it takes away the details. Seal the mold with 1 part lacuwer and 9 parts thinner, or denatured alcohol ans shellac. I like the shellac better, then wax the mold, re wax it. and do it again.
Make a couple half cast waxing well between each pull.
YOU have to USE JOHNSONS PASTE WAX in the YELLOW CAN. Auto waxes will not work well as they contain acids to help remove dead paint and bugs, tar etc.
JOHNSON"S PASTE WAX,, True Value hardware stores hax it for under $5.00 a can, get a cheap china bristle brush to apply it with aand old wash rags to polish the mold between waxings.
The partial pulls and rewaxing gets the micron thin build up on the sealer that is needed to slip parts out of the mold.
I tried PVA and have never been happy with the results even on mold flamges, so I went back to wax, a few years later tried it again I just dont have any need for it.
NEVER SRPAY PVA as it will setup in your lungs.

If you are in a real pinch for time you can use bondo thinned ( a lot ) with resin for gel coat.
