Murphy got me.

Yesterday I was trying to paint a couple fish.

I am putting some driftwood on a panel, bought a lb of drywall scews at the local True Value and the heads are triping out,  now I have one that has to be removed with a pair of Vise Grips, predrilled holes and all. weak steel in these screws!!

In the proccess I scratch a really sweet large Oak Oval panel $60.00!!! So what to do, make some  foam rocks and cover the scratch!!

I have put a new tip and sharpened the needle in the Paschee,   darned if it woould shoot a dot its was shooting a c pattern, finally got it working right.

Between coats  I normally shoot a light clear coat from a spray can,  I did and darned if it did not crackle lacquer on top of lacquer, Iave don't this hundreds of time but yesterday it decided to crackle a little bit.

Painting the fish I notice air pressure dropping, "Oh crap whats wrong with elcheapo air compressor?" snap  ring that holds the pistion rod on the crank has broken, this has happened two times now. Time to replace air compressor. not a planned expense but must be done.

So off to the local stores to cheap out prices. Find one at Orschlens,  back to the shop put it together and therre is an air leak but can fininsh painting the two  fish. a 32 inch brown trout and a blue gill. Look at the new Air compressor I find the pot metal manifold has a crack in it,  try to re do things first and just make it worse, geez will crap never stop?

Time to spray some gloss, darned if both spray guns will not work, so tear apart and off we go. Its not   O/T    no  not over time, its owner time, you know the time we never get paid for, fricken 7:45pm get to leave the shop. Set the alarm  call and check video feed, camera three aint working, have to replace cable end for some dumb reason. Call again video feed is good Darling says Cheese burgers ok? OH man am I hungry cant wait to get home, skipped lunch. Walk out the door, place locks and a customer drives up, repeat customer, now its time to deal with htem, they are good people. Nice 7 lbs brown, his first big brown trout.   He sees the 32 inch repro and he falls in love with it.

Alarm company calls, wife calls, police show up. Oh crap forgot to disarm the alarm!!!!

Brown is still alive in a cooler, caught less than 10 minutes ago, client deciede ona reproduction f he can release the brown alive. So he leaves to release the fish. It lived they have aplace at the campground to revive stressed fish.

So rearm and  leave. got to the top of the hill and remember got to go clean the gloss gun, crap what else will I forget or will not work.

Did not have enough thinner to tclean the gun, so  get a can I had bought that morning, its beenin the back of the turck all day in the sun. Open can and sswoosh about 6 ounces sprays everywhere, great not I have lacuqer thinner everywhere.

Oh Crap Ithink forgot to disarm the alram. Call the company, call the wife, get a nice vistior shift change at the PD. She stops and ask if she is going to have to arrest me for breaking in, she is hot!!!! I told her just frisk me Ineed the stress relief, she says she gets kinky  with handcuffs. I say  "OH crap the video feeds is on and its goes right to the house."  Phone rings we are both LOL.

 Wife says" I heard that!" 

Now the funny thing is the audio has never worked, well it did  yesterday.

Shelia the cop says "Oh great you would have put that on You tube, but who would have been in naked and in the cuffs?"

I replied "I am just to tired  tonight."

she says "Yea story of myr life, try to make the shift interesting and get turned down."

Finally gun is cleaned, hey spray gun!!!   get your minds out of the gutter!!!!

Shelia Super trooper leaves, I rearm the alram and home.

Client calls fish lived and he will be by Thursday to give me pics and  measurements from the fish.

Someday I am going to win one over Murphy!  Maybe.

When I have a day like this I sometimes forget how nice it was to be working for someone else. Let me help you remember- lots of overtime-mandatory, lots of missed schoolevents with the kids-ball games, school assemblies, awards ceremonies, even an occasional family movie night at school missed,worked holidays on a rotating schedule, buddy calls and says"fish are biting, lets go", I say "I can't, I have to work today", bosses that have a college education-and no real world education(or ability),ect. ect. ect....I'll take a "murphy day" once in a while, and sometimes I even smile about it. especially when I call my buds up to go fishin' and they say "I have to work today".

John, sorry for all the crap luck, but that really did put a smile on my face!  I am glad to see that I am not the only one with that kind of luck.  By the way, dont expect to EVER get one up on ol' murphy.

   Come on now. Aint days like that what make life worth livin?
Look at the story Ya have now LOL. Thats all it is aint it. Stories , memories. Crap to look back on and giggle. I know some days they seem to gang up on Ya. But looks like you took em in stride and kept on gittin it. (Good for you).

Follow up story. Potential client never calls so three weeks from now John calls potential client. Client says he doesn't have the money right now to do the replica and is actually re-thinking on whether or not he wants to wait until he catches a bigger one - lol!
