Epoxy Resins?
«
on:

Anyone use epoxy resin to cast with instead of polyester resin? I'm casting fish with polyester resin now.
The epoxy seems to be a bit more expensive, but from what I can find to read about it, it may be less brittle. I am also wondering if it is less or more of a health hazard? Any experience would be helpful before I buy some to test.
Thanks,
-kc

From my experienced and unless they have improved Epoxies are very hazardous to your health.
A superior product but with a payoff.

humm thats interesting From what I was taught in the O&P lab Epoxies where the lest toxic of the resins but the most expensive . I was told the polyesters where the most toxic and lest expensive then acrylics then epoxies. I do not remember if the urethanes where before or after the acrylics. Of course this is from a few years back the views on what is more toxic could have changed. All of the resins should be used will very good ventilation.
