? about maceration

Hi, I have read the tutorial about maceration and it does not say what they use for degrease, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

   I use lysol and dawn dish detergent,  Lot's of dawn put it on there scrub it good then let it soak in dawn and water for a few days.. I don't boil afterwards for the fear of it cracking.... Hope this helps    jim

I go for the dawn and water method, and might use ammonia....   so far have not had any of the brease monsters to deal with though...  it all depends on what you are needing to degrease ....   

some use acetone on the grease monsters.....  stuff makes me nervous though...

I use mostly ammonia with water.  I mix 1/2 gallon of ammonia per gallon of water.  Many people also use dawn and water to degrease, this works best if you heat the water.  You only need a couple of squirts per gallon of water.  If you use too much, it will slow down the degreasing.  Change the water every few days until it is no longer cloudy, washing the skull with warm water and a soft bristle brush at every change of water.  Do this until the water does not turn cloudy after a week and then dry and check for any more grease.  If you are satisfied with the degreasing, then you can whiten.  The degreaseing will take several weeks at least.
