I get my own. I go out into my woods and peel it off the rocks and old logs. I normally pack up a  couple bulap bags full each year.

I just dump it out in my pole barn spread it out a little and let it dry. Then I box it up until i need it. The whole sale floral places and craft shops just dry theirs. It does lose the green color afer a few years and becomes more brownish/green color just like the store bought moss. A littl air brushing and it looks like new again. I forgot about you guys with no trees around or in dry climates. I'm sure there isn't much moss growing there so you have to buy it.

Wildside, you can make the moss last longer by submerging it in glycerin/water mixture.
