vandykes auto tan crytals without auto tanner

I got a hold of about 50 pounds of vandykes tanning crytals for a auto tanner,  Could I use these crytals in just a 5 gallon pal, and tan and pickle in a 3-4 day period like other methods if I maintain a good ph level,  any directions or input is appreciated,  thanks   Dan
